Leading commercial property developer, Stoford has completed construction of a new state-of-the-art factory in Hampshire on behalf of international stairlift manufacturer and leading supplier of commercial lifts and lift services, Stannah.

The new 90,000 sq ft building has been developed in a prominent position, fronting Andover Business Park off the A303 in Andover.

It will facilitate the expansion of Stannah’s production capacity, reducing lead times for customers globally, and providing a purpose-built facility for its manufacturing teams.

The building benefits from strong sustainability credentials, including 24,300 sq ft of photovoltaic panels that will save a projected 206 tonnes of CO2 emissions a year compared to using electricity from the grid. It is also capable of harvesting 10,000 litres of rainwater and has achieved BREEAM ‘very good’ and EPC A+ rating.

Established more than 155 years ago, Stannah is run by the fifth generation of the Stannah family. The manufacturer’s new premises form part of a wider growth strategy. Stannah Group Managing Director, Jon Stannah said: “Stoford have done a fantastic job managing the build of our new factory and we are delighted to be able to now start work on the internal fit out. Andover has been the home of the Stannah Group since we moved operations from London in 1974 and the new factory more than doubles our Andover manufacturing footprint. Our business continues to grow steadily and the additional capacity will help us serve our customers across the world more efficiently far in to the future.”

Stoford Director, Edward Peel said: “We are very pleased to have successfully delivered this high quality, sustainable building. The new facility supports Stannah’s continued growth and development, enabling it to streamline its manufacturing process. Stannah’s investment in the facility also represents a significant boost to UK manufacturing and promises to bring more jobs to the region.”

Stoford developed the new factory alongside a professional team including Benniman, Trinity Property Consultants, Webb Gray Architects, Link Engineering and Engineering Services Consultancy.
