Stoford unveils new EV charging park at Exeter Logistics Park

Stoford Developments has completed construction of a major new electric vehicle (EV) charging park at Exeter Logistics Park near Clyst Honiton.

The leading commercial property developer has delivered the new 415-space facility on behalf of an existing occupier at Hayes Farm, East Devon.

The park is equipped with 100 EV charging stations and has the infrastructure in place to become fully electric in the future. Features include a new jet wash system, sustainable urban drainage systems, with permeable paving and bio retention pits, and a new attenuation basin to discharge surface water.

The 18-week project included an extension to the existing estate road and associated infrastructure works.

The EV charging park is situated on a plot immediately adjacent to a new 90,000 sq ft distribution unit that was delivered by Stoford for an international online retailer last year.

Exeter Logistics Park is part of the second phase of a significant industrial scheme on 55-acres of land owned by the Church Commissioners for England. Phase one of the Exeter Gateway distribution facility, Lidl UK’s regional distribution hub, was opened in 2017.

Both sites are part of the Exeter and East Devon Growth Point economic development zone east of the M5, near Exeter Airport. The scheme could contribute an extra £90m to £105m to the regional economy when complete.

Dan Gallagher, Joint Managing Director, Stoford said: “We are pleased to have completed the latest phase in our development of Exeter Logistics Park. As a developer, we are continually exploring ways to reduce our impact on the environment and this is an important new facility that contributes to the sustainable credentials of the scheme. The EV charging park is conveniently located in close proximity to the newly built distribution unit, which will allow both sites to be linked and gives the existing occupier the opportunity to consolidate its fleet of EV vehicles. There is huge pent up demand for logistics and distribution accommodation in the region and our vision is to establish Exeter Logistics Park as the South West’s leading distribution hub, south of Bristol.”

Stoford is a Planet Mark accredited company in recognition of its commitment towards measuring and reducing its carbon emissions year-on-year. The property developer also advises clients on the delivery of a range of sustainable features in its buildings, designed to have a positive impact on the wider natural and built environment. Delivered in partnership with the Eden Project, Planet Mark sustainability certification promotes continuous improvement in environmental, social and economic performance.

All enquiries regarding Exeter Logistics Park should be directed to the scheme’s retained agents, JLL and Cushman & Wakefield.
